Hi, Littlefinders! I hope you had a great weekend. I am feeling super motivated this week! I woke up early this morning, worked out, did my whole morning routine including using LISTERINE® Cool Mint Antiseptic Mouthwash.(I always do this on top of brushing my teeth) I picked up a cute outfit, wrote this post and off to work I go!
I bought LISTERINE® Cool Mint Antiseptic Mouthwash at Walmart. It’s super easy to find in the toothpaste isle. While I was there I also bought some LISTERINE® POCKETPAKS Cool Mint 72ct. These are perfect to keep in my purse and have one before client meetings, Krav class or just when I want to feel fresh. They dissolve so fast so it’s not like having to chew gum at work or in class.
Speaking of Krav Maga, I am really looking forward to attending class this week. If you are not familiar with what Krav Maga is, here’s a little info about it. Krav (for short) is “a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing, and wrestling, along with realistic fight training”
Yes, you read right. Twice a week I put the cute outfits to the side and pay money to have people take me down, and practice self-defense movements on me. Well, I do a little bit of the practicing too. But all joke aside, Krav Maga has been one of the boldest things I have ever done. While it might not seem like a big deal for some, for me it is. I am not athletic AT ALL. I do enjoy watching sports, but I just wasn’t blessed with coordination. As you can tell from my blog and social media channels, I am a girly girl, so the idea of wearing a t-shirt, unflattering yoga pants, hair in a bun and a belt around my waist WAS so not me.
I say WAS because now I really enjoy Krav. It makes me feel empowered and Bold! Every time I attend class, I meet new people, and that’s when my LISTERINE® POCKETPAKS Cool Mint 72ct come in handy. Krav is the best activity for me and I never thought I would have the courage to do something so outside my comfort zone. I want YOU to feel the same way, so here are some tips that might help you find an activity that challenges you and makes you feel like you are on top of the world!
First, think of some activities you have been wanting to try. At this point don’t think of any obstacles (money, time, etc.) Just think of the activity you are interested in. Some of these can include yoga, dance, painting, cooking, kickboxing, meditating and even traveling or other social activities. Not every activity has to be physical, it can also be mental.
Now that you have a few ideas, narrow it down to your top three. A good way to do so, it’s to combine your activity with your goals. Are you trying to lose weight? Do you want to relax? Maybe you want to get artistic or meet new people.
Besides Krav Maga, I have been looking for a second activity. I want to reconnect with myself and the world around me. So that’s how I chose Yoga.
Next, it’s time to actually try these activities. Many places offer a first-time FREE trial class. This is your chance to really get in there and see if this activity is for you! I was able to do a free yoga class at Ballball Yoga Gear and Activewear in Altamonte Springs. I realized the class was great for me and I can’t wait to go back. In your case, you might want to try your top three activities so you can be sure you choose the right one.
Once you try all of them, ask yourself which one of these fits my lifestyle better? Consider the following things:
- distance from your home
- schedule of classes
- long time contracts
When you find the activity that’s best for you, it’s time to commit to it. To be honest, there are times I feel lazy and I don’t want to go to Krav Maga class, but then I remember the awesome feeling I get when I complete a class. I’m encouraged, bold, accomplished and very proud of myself!
Trying new things can be scary, but that’s how you can discover things you didn’t know about yourself, make new friends and ultimately accomplish a goal you didn’t know you had. What type of activities are you looking forward to trying?
Until next time Littlefinders!
