Living in Florida, everyone thinks about beaches, theme parks, and warm weather. While those are all fantastic perks, one of my absolute favorite things about living in Florida is having access to fruits and veggies that grow here in my state. Fresh from Florida delivers great in-season produce, and right now I am all about the strawberries! I love to eat them by themselves, in certain salads or desserts and especially in smoothies.
When shopping at Publix for produce, I’m always on the lookout for the Florida Fresh logo. That’s how I know I will have the best food. I love drinking a strawberry smoothie a couple of times a week; it forces me to “drink” my fruits plus is delicious, easy to make and perfect for my lifestyle. Here is how to make it.
When I buy my strawberries, I take about half of them put them in a ziplock bag and freeze them. This way they are ready for my smoothies. These are the ingredients you will need for two servings:
Ten frozen strawberries
1/2 cup of almond milk
1/2 of spoon of sugar
1/2 cup of Greek yogurt
A chilled glass
1/2 cup of ice
Just add everything and blend to taste. I like my smoothies with very little texture, so I let it mix a little extra time. For a more refreshing taste. Keep your empty glass or mason jar in the fridge, so it’s chilled when served. This strawberry smoothie is also perfect for on the go (keep in a chilled plastic container)
